This was a quintessential 1876 Victorian Italianate home in San Francisco, recently purchased by a newlywed couple. In anticipation of the arrival of their first child, they desired to update the public rooms, renovate the kitchen and bathrooms, and create a new master suite. All of this was to be accomplished within the existing footprint. Our solution was to finesse a functional plan from the constricted layout inherent to Victorians. The newly configured spaces emphasize the fine architectural details and the soaring 12-foot ceilings, while providing for a modern family’s needs via improved circulation and new built-in cabinetry throughout.
