The clients for this project are a couple with very strong involvements in fine art photography and dog-training. Their new barn is to serve these both of these activities and include a living space on the upper “loft” level. The property is a wooded site near the Mendocino County coast of Northern California. The dog-training area is a clear column-free room 50 feet by 40 feet with access by large barn-doors which create a viewing portal for spectators. Extensive studio, dark-room, and workshop spaces form the perimeter of the lower floor.
